Washington, DC DC Former Educator & Executive in the Private Sector Committed Relationship Sasha & Misha (world's greatest rescue cats) Ever changing . . . Yes
SERIOUS STUFF:
writing social/politcal commmentary; following government; advocating for change, equality, and justice; exploring new activities, ideas and experiences; interacting with interesting motivated people . . .

FUN RELAXING STUFF:
Travel, photography, movies; music; theater; dance; reading; history; food & cooking. I have Kennedy Center season subscriptions to the National Symphony Ochestra, the Washington National Opera, the Ballet series, and the Theater season. I'm finally doing all the tings I couldn't do when my career ruled my live.

MUSIC:
I have a collection of Vintage Dance Music 1970-1995. I also enjoy classical; opera; Broadway; jazz; blues; rythm & blues; soul; gospel; country & western. I am drawn to any music that moves me. That usually comes from human beings whose music relects on their struggle to find a place and meaning in life. Some of those people are Alberta Hunter, Phyllis Hyman, Thelma Houston, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Nancy Wilson, Shirley Bassey, Ashfod & Simpson, Sara Vaughn, Lena Horne, Cleo Laine, Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, and many more.

TV SHOWS I LIKE:
The Blacklist; The Affair; Ray Donovan; The Big Bang Theory; Mom; The Daily Show with Trevor Noah; The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; Last Week Tonight with John Oliver; Full Frontal with Samantha Bee; CBS Sunday Morning

QUOTATIONS I LIKE:
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost." ~ Martha Graham . . .

"You must be the change you want to see in the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi . . .

"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between church and State" ~ Thomas Jefferson . . .

"What would you do if you knew you could not fail?"

I CREATED AN "UMBRELLA" ORGANIZATION that allows me to use a lifetime of experience and connections to advancing the greater good as a freelance consutant.

HOW I SEE MYSELF:
Proud descendant of people who dared to take a risk and go where they could see opportunity; who worked hard and believed they would make a better life; who refused to believe or act in any way unless it made sense to them; who found and celebrated good even in the worst of times; who gave of themselves to help those in need; who valued people and principle over possessions and position; who loved, accepted and supported family unconditonally; who never forgot that laughing drives away despair and prevents insanity; they taught me the meaning of "Yes We Can!" before I knew the phrase.

June 30, 1949 Pensacola FL Recently graduated from college and am seeking employment Widowed 3 8 ranging from a two year old to a 20 year who recently became a mother. Yes, I have a great-granddaughter ... shhhh ... lol. None sightseeing, adventuring, reading, swimming and writing I am just starting my second life and there are no plans for retirement ever. Retirement is for old people, right? Hell no, I won't go! lol My heart's desire is to travel and write. 2012-07-12 02:09:52
Until 2003, I was the Administrative Assistant for the Sr. Vice Pres. of a national non-profit organization.  I tendered my resignation in the summer of 2003 as I lost my husband and best friend.  We had been married for 34 years.  Anyway, I sold our home on Lake Panasoffkee and moved to Pensacola (where I still reside) and began college in the summer of 2004.  I graduated from the University of West Florida in May of this year with my BA in English Writing.  I am working on a book about the Civil War as my great great grandfather kept a diary while a union soldier and I would like to share it with whoever might be interested.  Meanwhile, I am enjoying single life, my 8 grandchildren (2-20) as well as 1 great grandaughter all of whom are located here there and various spots throughout the south.  I am in the throws of networking with all of the professors who befriended me while I attended college so that I can find employment in some field related to writing.  That is besides teaching ... I come from an entire teaching family (mom and 2 sisters, plus aunts, cousins, etc) so that is not on my docket.  Although I won't be able to make the reunion, I will be thinking about everyone and hope that everything will be a total success.
